Suitable Substrate Conditions

  • Following standards, regulations, and notices are applicable and especially recommended.
  • Concrete should be tested for moisture vapor emissions rate and/ or determine relative humidity in concrete floor slabs using in site probes in accordance with ASTM FI 869-11 and ASTM F2170-11.
  • Protect freshly applied leveling compounds from drafts, direct sunlight and direct source of neat.
  • ASTM F710-11 ''Standard practice for preparing concrete floors to receive resilient flooring."
  • The substrate must be sound, free from cracks, dry, clean and free from materials which would impair adhesion. Test the substrate according to applicable standards and report any deficiencies. Brush, abrade, grind or shot-blast any weak surface sections or areas which will not accept adhesion. Thoroughly vacuum to remove loose material and dust. Select a suitable primer provided by Cemimax according to surface type and conditions or seek Technical assistance. If moisture is detected after proper testing is done select a suitable Cemimax Moisture Vapor Retarder (MVR) before application of leveling. Cemimax DP 400 epoxy primer with sand broadcast to refusal is required for an adequate bond.

Mixing/Installation

Allow primers to dry thoroughly.

  • Put 3.1 Liters (3.27 quarts) of cold clean water into a clean container. Sprinkle in the sack contents (50 lb.) stirring briskly and mix to a thick-fluid. Lump-free consistency. Use a drill or mixer fitted with a Mixing Paddle. Do not exceed water recommendation.
  • Pour the mixture on the area to be applied, spread the material uniformly to Required thickness using a gauge rake set to a minimum of 3/8”. Roll with approved Cemimax spike roller to remove entranced air.
  • Following all standards, regulations, notices, and installation instructions are applicable and highly recommended.
